Diverting your telephone system.

Don't leave diverting your phones or creating a holiday message to the last minute.

Get on top of it now so you are not left stressed about it when trying to leave the office for your Christmas break. We have compiled a list of options available to help identify how your telephone system or carrier divert your phone calls. We can also help with creating and recording holiday messages on your telephone system.


OPTION 1 - THROUGH YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER.

IF YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER IS TELSTRA. *

How to Divert PSTN Lines:

  • Lift the handset
  • Wait for dial tone
  • Dial * 2 1
  • Key in the phone number you wish to divert calls to
  • Dial #
  • Hang up handset

How to Cancel Call Divert:

  • Lift the handset
  • Wait for dial tone
  • Dial # 2 1 #
  • Hang up handset

How to Divert ISDN Lines:

  • Lift the handset
  • Pick up Line 1 (main business number)
  • Dial * 2 1
  • Key in the phone number you wish to divert calls to (including area code)
  • Dial *  *  *
  • Dial main business number
    (ie. 08 9473 7000) including area code
  • Dial #
  • Hang up handset

How to Cancel Call Divert:

  • Lift the handset
  • Wait for dial tone
  • Dial # 2 1 *  *
  • Dial main business number
    (ie. 08 9473 7000) including area code
  • Dial #
  • Hang up handset

IF YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER IS OPTUS. *

How to Divert Lines:

  • Lift the handset
  • Dial * 7 8
  • Then the phone number (including the area code for fixed line numbers) you want to divert your calls to, or press a memory dialling button if the number has been stored in your phone.
  • Listen for 2 short beeps to confirm the diversion is active
  • Hang up handset

How to Cancel Call Divert:

  • Lift the handset
  • Dial # 7 8
  • Listen for 2 short beeps to confirm removal of the diversion.
  • Hang up handset

Do you have SIP or VoIP lines?

You can make your own changes such as diverts from your SIP/VoIP providers Toolbox. If you don't have access to this, please contact service provider for more details.


OPTION 2 - THROUGH YOUR TELEPHONE SYSTEM.

Every phone system site can be quite different in the way it's setup, so methods in recording greetings and setting diversions can be quite different also. It is difficult to give a "One-for-All" procedure, so we recommend either having one of our service technicians attend site to program as required or we may be able to advise necessary steps via phone support.

OPTION 3 - SET UP A LOW COST ANSWERING MACHINE.

Commandacom offer a low cost solution to handle your phone calls over the holiday periods, simply purchase one a digital answering machine and install parallel with your main incoming extension/reception phone.

Answering machines can be configured to either accept the call and allow clients to leave a message or provide your clients with a message advising your Christmas period opening hours, without allowing them to leave a message.
